Joseph Haydn got his inspiration for his most famous and spectacular oratorium on his travels in England, where he was tremendously impressed by Georg Friedrich Händel's oratoria.
'Die Schöpfung' is based on the Bible books of 'Genesis' and 'Psalms', and on John Milton's 'Paradise Lost'. This oratorium, written for three soloists, choir and orchestra, was already considered a masterpiece after its first executions. The composition gets its excellence from the unaffected fashion in which it is written, and from the enormous imagination of the composer: one hears the wind blow, the animals howl, and the tigers jump.
Together with the renowned soloists Dagmara Dobrowolska, Reinoud Van Mechelen and Kris Belligh, the Chamber Choir Carmina and Clari Cantores, the Frascati Chamber Orchestra succeeds in delivering another high-level production, this time conducted by Michiel Haspeslagh.
